    Grill cloth for port

Can anybody recommend grill cloth to use in the port of my A7s? I'm looking for something durable and with a vintage look (not the regular parts express stuff and whatnot). Thanks

Read Panomaniac's A7 journy thread and after you will just need an 8" diameter port, but I suppose you could hide the block off board and port behind a stock looking grill. Check out post #86.

    Re: Grill cloth for port

I think Newcastle Fabrics was a grill cloth maker for Altec in the 60's-70's .One of their subsidies is now called Acoustone Fabrics in Brooklyn,NY.Or you can try and PM Rick (Saeman) at Lansing Heritage. He had Black & Blue JBL cloth.I got some it is really good, it looks just like the original small diamond shape design black cloth that came on my Altec 612C cabs.

Acoustone Sound Control Fabrics. Newcastle Fabrics.

I may try the port... Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I'm thinking about using some of this: Mojo Grillcloth ?Mesa Style Small Weave Cane (Black) 32"W

    Re: Grill cloth for port

FWIW, the few 825 all original [AFAIK] adjustable vent cabs I've seen with a 'grill cloth' actually had cheap steel cloth stretched/stapled to the baffle board cleats and apparently sprayed along with the cab which lines up with the drawing, so what I used for my clones. I couldn't find any in a quick search though: http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...ure/page09.jpg
